TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE INVESTIGATING SUDDEN DEATH INCIDENT

(TIMMINS) The Timmins Police Service was called to the Porcupine Mall early this morning in
regards to the discovery of a deceased person.

The scene is under the control of the Timmins Police Service – Criminal Investigations Division
and access to certain areas is denied to the public for investigative purposes.

The identity of the deceased has yet to be confirmed.

The investigation is in its initial phases to determine if foul play was involved.

This is deemed to be an isolated incident where there are no public safety concerns attached.

The Timmins Police Service will be distributing a follow up media release when further details
can be made available.

Anyone with relevant information is asked to call the Timmins Police Service at 705-264-1201.

UPDATE

(TIMMINS) The Timmins Police Service was called to the Porcupine Mall early this morning in
regards to the discovery of a deceased person.

The body of an aboriginal woman was located and the scene was secured for investigative
purposes.

The scene was under the control of the Timmins Police Service – Criminal Investigations
Division but has since been released.

The body was removed pending instructions from the local Coroner’s Office in regards to a post
mortem examination.

The identity of the deceased has yet to be determined.

The investigation led by the Timmins Police Service – Criminal Investigations Division is in its
preliminary phases. Foul play has not been ruled out in relation to this event.

The Timmins Police Service view this as an isolated incident where no tangible threat to public
safety exists..

The Timmins Police Service is seeking the public assistance where anyone who witnessed
suspicious activity in the area of the Porcupine Mall yesterday evening or during the overnight
hours leading up to this morning is asked the Timmins Police Service at 705-264-1201.
