myzer Shut Down

Post by Captain Steubings » Tue Oct 30, 2018 1:44 pm

From the site:

Today, October 30th 2018, marks this website's 16th anniversary. Unfortunately, it also marks the day it shut down for good.

myzer.com was my attempt to address the need for a classifieds website that would serve Timmins, but also the smaller surrounding areas. The main vision from the beginning was to provide a controlled, clean, harassment-free environment where visitors could feel comfortable posting their ads without being criticized by others. I like to think I stayed true to that vision, even though it became increasingly difficult to deal with bad behaviour and in doing so, came at great cost to my name and my health. Although I understand that when running a business, there will always be people who abuse/disrespect/slander the business, I still regret that most of my time was spent trying to deal with those people. I wish it could have been different.

I am grateful to have had the support of so many members and volunteers over these past 16 years. Thank you.

----------------

should have sold it to someone else. Or do you think he'll be back?

THE SITE THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED!!!!!

I totally forgot about that website! I remember the guy who ran it was quite the oddball. He seemed to go nuts over such small things and wanted people to charge people to do such small things on that site.

I also remember some people on here having disputes or bugging him. But I forgot what it was about. I'll have to look at old threads.

I knew it would be back soon ....

"Update - November 2nd, 2018: myzer.com will be back, but under new ownership within the next week. Email, text, Facebook your friends - check back soon !"

I wonder if he really sold it or its just the same guy lol.

Probably the same guy, last update on the domain was 2018-05-04 - you'd think a new owner would want that transferred to them....

Negative. Would have been cheaper to just buy a new domain and install a free modern buy and sell app but, why try and compete with free FB stuff? Although I', sure the cheap assed banner ads made a few bucks.

I haven't heard anybody talking about myzer (the site that shall not be named) over the last few years. It seems as though most people sell their stuff on Facebook group pages and Kijiji.
