i tend to speed in the day when its harder for them to notice, i.e doing it with traffic, at night when i am the only car on the road i try to match the speed limit dead on.
John.... on this we agree. You can have the most sophisticated traffic lights, signs, arrows etc. but a moron driver is a moron driver and nothing is going to change that.
I concur with your agreeing.

Still around Franco.....just not as often as have quite a few things on the go right now ;). I will inquire about the signs at this intersection in regards to position near lights.

Thanks.

i think in relation to other intersections like this in ottawa, the signs are relatively in the same spots, as the ottawa busy intersections. we just have to figure out how to redirect some of the afternoon traffic.

And I find the intersection of Cameron and Wilson is scary at times.

I agree. Twice a day, vehicles get backed up on Wilson trying to turn north on Cameron. If you're trying to cross Wilson, you're taking your life into your own hands.

The City should look into ways of either diverting traffic away from Wilson or moving more vehicles through the Algonquin intersection.

Again. I've always said, increasing the length of the flashing green at the lights will push more cars through during peak times, and help clear the jams.

however knowing how this city operates traffic lights. its a catch 22. they don't simply time the lights for the most traffic during the day, if they did, no intersection would have advanced green after 10 pm. however as i was told in another thread, making changes like these would cause the city headaches to implement. probably due to the ancient computers in the control boxes for lights in this town.

People would rather take the same route everyday that they bitch about than simply go another way that would be less frustrating.

the issue with that is, there aren't that many options in this town that allows quick access from one point to another

Yeah I do. But how much extra time is being added overall? 2, 3 maybe 5 minutes? There has to be alternate ways that may be (or seem to be) faster.

i just want to go the most direct route possible. i don't recall the lights in ottawa being so predictable, light goes green at mountjoy, lights go red down the block, they go green you get a red at brunette, light goes green and by the time you get to the lights at 655 they go red again.

But if you go the other way, you can almost go all the way through...

Talk about dejavu.

We had this discussion before. It can't be all long greens in both directions.

the lights at brunnette are timed with 655 almost, but the long green is for westbound is delaying eastbound long enough to be delayed so that a vehicle is stopped at 655

probably not as i doubt they'd want to add a new timing cycle to remove all the advanced greens when not needed. maybe Steve if he reads this can bring this idea up the next time he talks to the powers that be.

Where is this supposedly from? Not from North America, I know that.
