New Mac's store?

#1

Post by Head Honcho » Sat May 06, 2017 12:46 pm

Word on the street is that JP Legault is removing contaminated soil from his property on the corner of Cameron and Wilson Avenue to make way for the construction of a new Mac's Convenience store, possibly with a gas bar.

If true, it would be a Circle K store and gas bar. All Mac's stores will soon become Circle Ks.

He's bringing the contaminated soil to Smooth Rock Falls landfill because Timmins is charging him big bucks and Smooth Rock will take it for $45,000.

According to what I read, the Smooth Rock landfill site said they are full and cannot accept any more contaminated soil.

I had read that council reviews the fees and determined that they are in line with other Northern Ontario cities. So no special deal for Legault? Well you never know. Developers here often threaten not to build something and then they get their way. I wonder if Legault will find somewhere else that will accept the soil?

Circle K is affiliated with ESSO and Mac is affiliated with SHELL, so I doubt it would become Circle K. It may become a Shell gas station.

Esso often has On the Run which is owned by Alimentation CoucheTard which owns Mac's and Circle K. But it could be a Circle K. I doubt it will be Mac's because the company announced it was phasing out the name so that all locations would eventually become Circle K.

The Riverpark Esso has an On the Run.

I haven't seen any Shell's in Ontario with a Circle K convenience store. Not sure why they would start in Timmins.

Why not start in Timmins? Many Shell stations in the U.S. have Circle Ks. Circle Ks are found with a number of gas station brands.

But I wouldn't be surprised if the gas station is also a Circle K brand one. The same as you see Mac's gas stations with the convenience stores in many places in Ontario. There are many Circle K gas stations in the U.S.. Arizona is one state where I remember seeing a lot of them.

All the Esso's in the GTA that used to have convenience stores are now branded as Circle K.

And on a side note, "Couche-Tard hopes to sell cannabis in convenience stores".

Most have. Not all.

I've also been near recently opened Shell locations (opened within the month), and they do have have Circle K, so again, they likely won't randomly just start in Timmins.
